Lunar Module Launch from the Moon (2MB) This one minute animation was done in After Effects, using NASA stills on the net as the source material and basically moving them around. This is much as you would move around cut-out pieces of paper under an old film camera, Terry Gilliam style, with the main difference being that in a computer you don't have to take one shot a frame, you set up a path and keyframes over a timeline and the software fills in gap frames. Reflections and sparkles and so on were added as After Effects effects. Having watched the Apollo 11 landing live on television as an 11-year old, I've kept up an interest in the early history of spaceflight, and it seemed a good subject for an excercise. |
